In late 2003, at the urging of my staff, our hospital began our own adoption program.  Working
with a very limited number of reputable rescue organizations, our hospital obtained kittens (and the occasional adult cat) in need of loving and caring homes.

For most of the kittens, life started out a bit rough.  Many were feral, fearful and untrusting, living on the street or in yards, garages, and sheds.  Through the devotion of dedicated rescue workers, these kitties were captured, nurtured, socialized, and then brought to us so that we could attempt to find good homes for them.   We’ve been fortunate that our neighbors and friends have found our cats to be irresistible, and we can proudly proclaim that since the start of the program, we have placed over 200 cats and kittens into loving homes.

If you’re looking to adopt a kitten or cat to provide your current cat with some company, or if you’re thinking of adding two kittens or cats to your currently catless home (we always recommend adopting them in pairs), look at the kitties available for adoption now or contact our office.

All kittens that arrive here at our hospital are given a thorough physical examination.  Each kitten is tested individually for the feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).  Each kitten is checked for fleas and ear mites, and treated appropriately if necessary.  Fecal examinations are performed on each kitten, and deworming is performed if necessary.  Pediatric vaccinations are then administered.

The adoption process begins with you filling out our pre-adoption application.  You can download this form and then mail, bring, or fax it to us at your convenience.  Once we receive it, we will carefully evaluate your application, as well as any other applications we receive, and will notify you as to whether the cat or kitten you seek is available.

There is a fee associated with the adoption of our kittens.  This fee covers their initial examination, FeLV/FIV test, fecal examination, first deworming, first FVRCP vaccination, second examination, second FVRCP vaccination, second deworming (if necessary), third examination, third FVRCP vaccination, rabies vaccination, and spaying or neutering.  Basically, the adoption fee pays for all of the standard procedures necessary in the kitten’s first six months of life.
